Job Description

At Living Optics, we build hyperspectral cameras. Our devices access information invisible to human eyes and conventional cameras and allow our customers to do a whole range of things more efficiently from sorting plastics to detecting greenhouse gases and tumours.

We’re at the stage where our hard work developing our camera is shifting to supporting our customers using our camera so you will be joining a dedicated team with a broad range of experiences and backgrounds who love a technical challenge. You will have an impact on our product, our team and our customers. Last year we ran our first Intern programme and it was a great success so we’re thrilled to be doing it again this year.

We are fiercely proud of our talented workforce, whose creativity, tenacity and skills have enabled us to evolve into a successful, well-funded and rapidly growing company in just a few years. Our headquarters and lab space are at Milton Park, Oxford UK and we are continuing to grow our friendly and diverse global team. We strive to be an outstanding place to work – by maintaining a positive and inclusive culture, offering competitive salaries and benefits and by encouraging ongoing training and development.

Culture is important to us at Living Optics, and we will ask you at interview about your values and how they align with ours. We do our best to exemplify:

People First:

  • At Living Optics our people are the center of our business and drive our decision making.
  • We listen to our people, partners and customers to understand so we can support what they need to achieve.

Curiosity with Purpose:

  • We are passionate about what we do and are committed to achieving our company goals.
  • We are focused on meeting our deadlines, but also make time to have fun, experiment and explore new technology.

Challenge Reality:

  • We are ready to challenge what is deemed impossible by exploring new ideas and technology.
  • We embrace different perspectives and are always willing to question the accepted viewpoint.

We have 3 intern opportunities up for grabs. You will be a final year Masters student or in a subject which has some focus on Business Administration or Marketing / Publishing. You might be keen to get some real-life experience of what it is like to work in a deep tech start-up as part of a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team.

You will take on real responsibilities whilst receiving support, guidance and mentorship. Depending on your degree discipline and your appetite for learning you might be involved in some of these activities:

  • Contribute to technical marketing documents, internal process documents and governance
  • Create and share updates with the team and our stakeholders to raise awareness of the exciting things that are taking place across the team.
  • Work alongside our marketing team to create content which will engage with our potential and existing customers.
  • Be involved in the planning and delivery of our onsite events (e.g. team building sessions, Board meetings, customer visits).
  • Review and give us feedback on some of our administrative and operational processes and make recommendations for how we might work more effectively and efficiently.
